Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents Festival Repertory Theatre 2011 with the comedy &ldquo;The 1940s Radio Hour&rdquo; and the music review &ldquo;Hooray for Hollywood: A Tribute to the Best Movie Musicals of All Time.&rdquo; The plays will run June 24 through July 24, in the 500-seat University Theatre on FAU's Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. There will also be three additional showings of Hooray for Hollywood at the Mos' Art Theatre in Lake Park on July 29 and 30.=0D=0A=The two plays are on a rotating schedule with afternoon and evening performances through the summer. The musical review, which was created by Bruce Linser, will include performances from music in the films &ldquo;West Side Story,&rdquo; &ldquo;Funny Girl,&rdquo; &ldquo;Singin' in the Rain,&rdquo; &ldquo;My Fair Lady,&rdquo; &ldquo;The Wizard of Oz,&rdquo; &ldquo;Cabaret,&rdquo; &ldquo;A Star is Born,&rdquo; &ldquo;Chicago,&rdquo; &ldquo;All That Jazz,&rdquo; &ldquo;Grease,&rdquo; &ldquo;Beauty and the Beast,&rdquo; &ldquo;Moulin Rouge&rdquo; and others.=0D=0A=&ldquo;The 1940s Radio Hour&rdquo; takes place during Christmas 1942, behind the scenes of a New York City radio station. The station plays all the songs of the era, during a time when U.S. troops were in far off countries defending liberty. The play gives a 'backstage' look at the radio entertainers. Music includes &ldquo;Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,&rdquo; &ldquo;Strike up the Band&rdquo; and more. Radio Hour is directed by Jean Louis Baldet.=0D=0A=Festival Rep is now in its 13th year with graduate student actors acting alongside professional actors. This year's equity actors are Terry Hardcastle, Bruce Linser and Laura Wayth. Hardcastle has performed off-Broadway in &ldquo;Mary Tudor,&rdquo; &ldquo;Desperation City,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Festival of the Shameless.&rdquo; He has also performed at the Actor's Playhouse, Caldwell Theatre, Florida Stage and elsewhere. Linser has performed locally at the Caldwell Theatre, Gable Stage, the Maltz Theatre and the New Theatre. He has also worked off-Broadway and has been in many national tours. Wayth received her MFA from American Repertory Theatre Institute at Harvard and has taught extensively.
