Christine will display different styles of baskets, demonstrate how they are made and give a brief history on the Nantucket Basket. Christine is mindful of the integrity of the Shaker and Nantucket art form but is interested in adding her own interpretations by exploring weave patterns and using different natural fibers such as, hand tied ramie, hemp bark, hand spun raw silk, seed pods and branches. Christine uses molds that were designed to her specifications and she commissions ivory and wood carvings that adorn the Nantucket Baskets. The Coral Springs Craft Guild invites the public to this wonderful program. There is no charge and reservations are not necessary for this particular program.
